About:

Tom Sylvester began in the days of the real Madmen where he developed a unique ability to hear what focus groups say to find hidden trends. He has successfully created targeted ad campaigns and complete productions for literally hundreds of products and ideas.

  • Tom's original campaign for Supercuts helped launch the franchise into what it is today.

  • His national spots for Mattel Toys/Barbie sold out the product, doubled computer sales and found a place on the Smithsonian Institute Advertising Timeline in Washington, DC.

  • He created breakthrough productions for Cabbage Patch Kids, Six Flag Parks, Pepsi, Black & Decker, Warner Bros. and that "infamous" Nintendo Power Glove spot.


His creative can also be seen in Public Service spots for Helping Hands Across America, Guide Dogs for the Blind and AIDS Quilt Awareness. Tom is proud to have worked way back when with Harvey Milk on spots to help defeat CA Prop. 6, the Anti-Teacher Brigg's Initiative.


Tom was educated at Pasadena Playhouse and Walt Disney's CalArts. After working on several feature films in the US and Europe, Tom began in commercials with N. Lee Lacy in Los Angeles where he honed his producing, writing and directing skills with such ad wizards as Hal Riney, Benson Green, Dick Snider, Harold Becker and Tim Newman.

Soon after, Tom helped create One Pass Prod/SF and then joined Mars Advertising/LA as Creative Director/Producer writing and producing ad campaigns for a wide variety of clients including Disney, Nabisco, General Electric, Chrysler, Jello, KCBS-TV, Safeway, Princess Cruises and award winning Olympic spots for 3M/Scotch and Eveready.

 

Today, advertisers, agencies and Start-ups alike use Tom's creative and production expertise for breakthrough results on their TV Spots, Promos, Shows, Corporate Pitch and Explainer Videos, Tag Lines, Websites, Complete Production and Ad Campaign Consulting.
